Seth Suleman Ismail Chhapra

(1912 - 1974)

In Loving memory of Seth Suleman Ismail Chhapra, a kind, gentle and humble personality, well known in the timber trade.

He came to Mumbai, without a single rupee in his pocket, from a small town called "Mangrol" in Gujarat, with nothing more than a will, armed with a desire to work and gifted with a foresight. After a lot of hard work, and with a lot of determination he laid the foundation stone of United Timber Industries way back in 1951 and made it a name to be reckoned with in the timber industry, not only in India, but also, around the world.

He completed his mission on earth on 5th October 1974 and left behind the ultimate legacy that is United Timber Industries.

Today, we at United Timber Industries are continuing his work in an effort to further strengthen and consolidate the presence of United Timber Industries in the timber industry in India and around the world - that United Timber Industries which Seth Suleman Ismail Chhapra so much cherished in his lifetime.
